Heinzel Group completes takeover of the Steyrermühl paper mill

The Upper Austrian location and the neighboring Laakirchen plant are to grow together to form a center for sustainable packaging papers, renewable energies and wood processing. Back in March last year, Heinzel took over a disused graphic paper machine in Steyrermühl. After the machine is converted, it will produce up to 150,000 tons of brown and white kraft paper annually.

The group has now also taken over the Steyrermühl sawmill, a biomass and waste power plant and other facilities. The site is to be developed into a supply center for heat and renewable energy for the neighboring Laakirchen paper factory and the region. The plan is to build a second power plant and a steam pipeline as well as expand district heating.
