Helping people in need at Christmas

Doing good on Christmas Eve: Every year, “Licht ins Dunkel” focuses on people in need – this year on December 24th, thanks to the ORF program, everything revolves around donations and charity. Star guests such as Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen are also expected.

AUSTRIA. For the 50th time, the ORF is calling for donations on Christmas Eve – the entire December 24th is dedicated to charity. For the 45th time, the “Licht ins Dunkel” television show is rising, Barbara Stöckl and Peter Resetarits welcome the audience from 9.05 a.m. on ORF2. The Christmas show collects donations for people with disabilities as well as families and children in need.

The program

Norbert Oberhauser and the “ORF Allstars Band” provide the right mood for the festival live with the most beautiful Christmas carols. In addition to high-ranking representatives from politics and church as well as representatives of the world religions Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen is also expected by 11 a.m. Andreas Onea will interview prominent guests who are on the donation phones. Local programs ensure a typical Christmas atmosphere in the respective federal states.

Federal states create a mood

From 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., local programs in the respective federal states create a Christmas atmosphere typical of the country, before the midday program (12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.) traditionally brings the leaders of local politics and “Licht ins Dunkel” major donors to the studio. In local exits from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the ORF state studios bring interviews with prominent guests, contributions to regional customs and many musical performances. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., a review of the whole country will be broadcast from the television studio in Vienna before at 6 p.m. “Silent Night, Holy Night” will be played and Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen wishes “Merry Christmas”.

Musical accompaniment

From 6 to 7 p.m., the “Christmas Singing for LIGHT INTO THE DARK”, which took place at the beginning of December in the natural arena on the Hohe Warte in Vienna, invites you to sing along at home. In the stadium of the football club “First Vienna FC”, the “ORF Allstars Band” and Norbert Oberhauser performed Christmas carols, supported by star guests such as DJ Ötzi, Die Mayerin and Chris Steger. Eva Pölzl leads through this ideal accompanying program for Christmas Eve.
That also plays a central role ORF Peace Light from Bethlehemwhich can be picked up on Christmas Eve from train stations, the ORF state studios, youth Red Cross offices and many parishes and shines as a sign of Christmas peace in the world that can be seen from afar.
