Hépar water is (finally) back on the shelves, but it will cost you more

Good news for Hépar fans. Water rich in magnesium will make a comeback on supermarket shelves this week. Deliveries, which had been increasingly spaced out for several months due to the drought, will be rescheduled. In the columns of West Francethe Nestlé Waters group, which markets Hépar, announced a gradual return to the shelves from Monday.

But this good news hides some bad news. If customers are going to find their favorite water again, they will have to pay more to buy it. From now on, they will only find 0.75 liter bottles and the pack of six will be offered at a recommended price of 3.96 euros, or 88 cents per liter. An increase of 30%, indicate our colleagues. Because until now, the six 1L bottles were sold for a little more than 4 euros, or 67 cents per liter.

A “permanent solution”

“The price per liter of this new format is between the prices charged for small formats and large formats,” said a spokesperson for the Swiss multinational. The group assures that this is a “long-lasting solution” to better secure supplies of natural mineral water. “In a context of limited resources, the refocusing of our range on this unique 75 cl format aims to allow consumers to continue to benefit from the recognized benefits of Hépar natural mineral water on transit throughout the year », added the spokesperson.

If Hépar bottles have almost become impossible to find in recent months throughout the country, it is because water drilling in the Vosges massif has been seriously disrupted by climatic hazards. In May, the company was forced to suspend the use of two of the six boreholes. “Like our entire industry, we are facing deteriorating weather conditions, with more frequent and more intense events such as regular droughts or heavy rains, which affect our operating conditions and to which we are adapting “, declared the group at the time.
