The organizing committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award chose Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, as the Islamic Personality of the Year for the 27th session of the award.
This was announced by the Vice Chairman of the Award Organizing Committee, Dr. Saeed Abdullah Hareb Al Muhairi, during a press conference held at the Culture and Science Symposium building in Dubai yesterday evening, in the presence of committee members. He said that Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum has clear imprints in the Islamic, humanitarian and charitable fields. And socially, Her Highness was distinguished by giving, serving and caring for the Book of God, and encouraging young people to learn it, memorize it, and contemplate its meanings. Her Highness ordered the printing of hundreds of thousands of copies of the Noble Qur’an and their distribution to Muslims in the east and west of the earth. What the Dubai International Holy Quran Award is proud of is that its first publication was at the expense of Her Highness. This tree was planted, which, thanks to God, grew in various fields of Qur’anic studies, the Sunnah, the fragrant biography of the Prophet, and Islamic culture.
He praised the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the local competition that was decorated with her Highness’s name and was called the “Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition,” in addition to her giving special attention and care to this competition, which includes several branches, and is intended for male and female citizens and residents. On the territory of the United Arab Emirates, and its keenness annually to honor the winners, participants of both genders, arbitration committees, administrators and volunteers.
He added that Her Highness also ordered the launch of the Dubai Holy Quran Radio to spread the Book of God day and night, and for millions of people to hear the verses of the Holy Qur’an at all times, and for this radio to be an ongoing charity until the Hour of Resurrection.
He explained that the contributions of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum were not limited to this aspect, but rather diversified to include other areas, including women and childhood care, charitable and humanitarian works, and her continuous care for orphans and the needy, in addition to annually sponsoring Hajj expenses for those unable to do so from inside and outside the country, and providing them with support. Generous and continuous support for the projects of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, in addition to the projects and programs of the Al Nahda Women’s Association in Dubai.
As part of Dubai Social Agenda 33, Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum directed the Dubai Community Development Authority to launch the Dubai Weddings Initiative, due to Her Highness’s certainty that the family is the foundation of the nation, with the aim of providing support to citizens about to marry in Dubai, to reduce the financial burdens on them and contribute to the formation of good citizen families and strengthen cohesion. And family stability.
Based on the noble hadith, “Whoever builds a mosque for God, even if he is like a cat, God will build for him a house in Paradise,” Her Highness built many mosques in the Emirate of Dubai, which reflect the slogan “Our Mosques, Our Civilization.”
Her Highness chaired the Board of Trustees of the Emirates Food Bank, which provides millions of meals to the needy, whether surplus or donated, in cooperation with local and international institutions. It is the first food bank in the United Arab Emirates, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the State, said about her.
