As part of the integration into the US group Hillenbrand, we reported, the management of Herbold Meckesheim was also reorganized: In addition to Massimo Serapioni, who is also head of the Recycling business unit, Christian Raiser took over as Managing Director in July of this year of the operational business. He is responsible for the success of the site and reports directly to Markus Parzer, President Polymer Division of Coperion.

Christian Raiser learned how to manage a mechanical engineering company from the ground up: his professional career began in 2007 in the production of Coperion in Stuttgart in the screw element production segment; From 2013 onwards he was responsible for assembly and logistics in what was then the Compounding and Extrusion division. In 2019, Raiser moved to the Coperion site in Wytheville, Virginia, as General Manager and Vice President Operations, where parts production and assembly of the ZSK extruders for the American market are located.

Higher throughputs required

Not only in the United States, where Herbold has a headquarters, but here too, interest in the modular and automated recycling solutions from Meckesheim is unbroken, according to the company. And PET washing systems continue to dominate incoming orders alongside those for films. Lines for big bags and hard plastics in general are also in high demand. Cutting and fine mills as well as plastic compactors for compaction are also manufactured. In keeping with the circular economy, the machine manufacturer’s program also offers used units for retrofitting and overhauling.

The company reports that the market is demanding machines with ever higher throughputs. In addition to the United States and the United Kingdom, the EU countries from Scandinavia to Bulgaria or Turkey and India are particularly rapidly expanding markets. The inquiries are now often aimed at several parallel system lines. The necessary mechanical processing of post-consumer material for subsequent chemical recycling on an industrial scale is also becoming increasingly important. The Recycling business unit offers its own solutions for turnkey systems.
