Here are the record prices for accommodation during the Milan Design Week event

They come from all over the world to visit the Salone del Mobile and the Fuorisalone between 16 and 21 April and they spare no expense. There are tens of thousands of professionals who are preparing for the great event with the result that in recent months the prices of hotel rooms which are now almost all sold out have skyrocketed, also with the complicity of dynamic prices, while for those who opt for the hospitality offered by short-term rentals, they are preparing to shell out astronomical sums to the delight of the hosts who can pay at least a year’s worth of condominium expenses with what they earn and treat themselves to a long holiday with what remains. In fact, to stay in any of the many “Aparthouse” type solutions in a central area of Milan the average request is around 800 euros per night but for more refined solutions the request almost doubles. Those who have a large apartment equipped to accommodate even a dozen guests can collect 1,300 euros per day. For higher sums, other owners make the property available as a space, location for networking events between exhibitors, buyers and professionals. An economy that fuels a whole series of collateral services from room cleaning to catering and transport. Also skyrocketing are the commissions of the platforms which retain a quarter of what guests pay. And among the hosts there are those who organize themselves with advance booking to make the same guests book the same solution year after year: in other words, the hospitable team doesn’t change.

As regards hotel hospitality during the days of the Show, two people in a 5-star hotel in the city center will spend no less than 7,500 euros for 5 nights if they are lucky enough to find a room. To save money you can move away from the centre: in a peripheral area the cost varies between 2 thousand and 3 thousand euros.

Among the most anticipated guests are North Americans, a traditionally high-spending audience who willingly chooses short-term rental solutions while arrivals from the Persian Gulf area and the Middle East are making a comeback. A clientele that will also increase tax-free spending on Milanese shopping.
