Some CSS decided to place or move an educational day to the day of the eclipse while others chose to suspend classes.
Here is the list of schools closed on April 8, 2024 due to the total solar eclipse:

- Affluents School Service Center
- Rivière-du-Nord school service center
- Thousand Islands School Service Center
- School service center in Cœur-des-Vallées
- Rouyn-Noranda school service center (educational half-day, closing in the afternoon for the solar eclipse)
- Capital School Service Center
- Samares school service center
If your child’s school remains open on the day of the total solar eclipse, know that school service centers and schools have taken the necessary measures to ensure their safety. Some schools have even chosen to extend the primary school day until 4:30 p.m. on April 8 so that young people can watch the solar eclipse in complete safety. However, parents will have to provide transportation for their children. This is particularly the case for the Navigateurs school service center.
“Many schools, both primary and secondary, have planned original educational activities in order to allow their students to benefit as much as possible! Certified protective glasses will be distributed to students and staff members,” we read in a message sent to parents on Wednesday.

In Quebec, the last total solar eclipse occurred in 1972 and after that of April 8, the next one will not take place until 2106.
