here is what you absolutely must declare in your income concerning Vinted, Leboncoin and Airbnb!

The State could not miss the financial windfall in taxes represented by the online sale of second-hand products.

Taxes are watching! Many French people turn to Vinted or Leboncoin to sell or buy second-hand (or sometimes new) goods.

It’s a good way to save money while limiting the consumption of products new.

Objects and clothes are given a second life, so it is a good ecological effort to use this system. But these applications or sites internet are so successful that some sell a lot of them. Too much for the state.

The platforms inform the tax authorities, the declaration is pre-filled

Indeed, since 2019, all platforms transmit user income to the tax authorities: number and amount of transactions, bank details, status (private or professional). Using this information, the administration pre-fills the statement of income.

Declaration does not mean taxes to be paid

Be careful though: it is not because you make a few sales on Vinted or Leboncoin that you have to pay taxes on your earnings. This would be counter-productive because it would not encourage French for sale, but rather to throw away.

Certain criteria have been put in place. Non-declaration is possible if your earnings on these platforms are less than €3,000 per year (for less than 20 transactions). And if you have to declare your winnings, you won’t necessarily pay taxes. But this allows the tax authorities to better control sales on the Internet.

Indeed, even if you sell for more than 3,000 euros, the administration makes the difference between users who trade and earn their living in this way, and people who sell furniture or valuables once or twice. Thus, if you occasionally sell a telephone, a piece of furniture or a computer, the income is not taxable because your activity is not that of a professional.

However, there are exceptions. If you sell, for example, jewellery, precious metals, works of art, collectibles or antiques, for more than 5,000 euros, you must pay the flat-rate precious metal tax.

If you sell an object for more than 5,000 euros, you are subject to tax on capital gains from the sale of movable property. If you did it on an application or a website with secure payment, then this sale will be included in your declaration, automatically.

11 million French people benefit from automatic declaration

Numerous French are uncomfortable with their tax return. Too many numbers. Too many subtleties. Too much information. As a result, the automatic declaration makes life easier for the eleven million French who benefit from it.

This year, it should benefit even more people. But what is it exactly? The tax authorities are content to pre-fill the tax return with the information at their disposal (family expenses, pensions, unemployment benefits, amount of wagesetc.)

What should you do in this case? If all the information is correct and complete, you have nothing to do. The declaration will be automatically validated.

On the other hand, it is possible that certain elements must be completed, or even modified (for example, you must verify your address, your family situation, the expenses giving rise to the right to a reduction, etc.) In this case, you must complete your declaration as d habit, then the signer. However, the time saved is significant.
