High Court Stay Order: Imran Khan’s Jail Trial in Official Secrets Act Case

ISLAMABAD – A Division Bench of the High Court has stayed the trial of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in jail in a case of breaching the Official Secrets Act. The court also asked the Attorney General to inform the Attorney General regarding the unusual circumstances in which Imran, who is on remand in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, should be tried there. An explanation has also been sought for the government’s decision to allow trial in jail. The single bench had earlier rejected Imran’s request to stay the trial in jail.

At the same time, the National Accountability Bureau arrested Imran in the Al Qadir Trust and Toshakhana cases following the permission of the court. NAB officials reached the jail and completed the procedures.
