New Delhi: Of the 6,71,928 applications made last year for Schengen visas to travel to European countries, 1,21,188 were rejected. According to data from Schengen Visa Info, Indians are the second most rejected applicants. The application fee is 80 Euros (Rs 7,260). Indians lost 87 crore rupees in this race.

Estonia rejected the most applications. 56% of 1986 applications were rejected. Germany rejected the fewest applications. Out of 6345 applications received at the Bengaluru consulate, only eight in Kolkata, one in Chennai and two applications were rejected. Officials said incomplete information in the application, lack of adequate health insurance, and vagueness in information regarding financial status lead to rejection of applications.
