2023-09-24 19:17:00

On Sunday evening, police chased a car on the E40. The car stopped on the highway near Erembodegem, where the occupant(s) got out. “We do not yet know whether it is one or several people,” said Lisa Wynendaele, spokesperson for the Aalst police. The suspect(s) fled. We don’t yet know why.

Police used drones and dogs to search for the fugitive(s). A federal police helicopter was also deployed. “Around 7:15 p.m. we withdrew and stopped the search. We were unable to capture the people we were looking for,” Mr Wynendaele said.

The manhunt has already started in the Brussels region. When the car approached Aalst, police teams from the Aalst area were deployed. The prosecution opened an investigation.

If the Aalst police zone receives another report of suspicious person(s), the police will continue their search.
