It was around 9:45 p.m. this Sunday when the facts occurred rue de Cuesmes in Jemappes. The driver of a vehicle which was visibly in a hurry and which was traveling in the direction of Cuesmes lost control and hit another vehicle which was parked in the opposite direction, causing a chain reaction with the other cars parked behind the vehicle struck. “The driver was driving at least 120 km/h” told us Patricia, a baker who lives in the rue de Cuesmes, who fortunately had no damage to her vehicle.
This in an agglomeration where the traffic speed is limited to 50.
Completely destroyed following the shock of the accident, the driver’s Audi first hit a white Dacia head-on which was also destroyed. The shock was so violent that the Dacia found itself perpendicular to the sidewalk. As a result, at least four other vehicles were hit.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, not even the more than reckless driver. “The firefighters were called to the scene”, we are told by the Mons-Quévy police “But the accident did not require the intervention of an ambulance a priori.”
