High blood cholesterol levels are a problem for modern people. Rheumatologist, neurologist, academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Pavel Evdokimenko recommends the use of medicinal leeches as one of the measures to combat this problem.
According to him, just one procedure perfectly thins the blood, speeds up metabolism and burns high cholesterol. In addition, hirudotherapy reduces even extremely high levels of uric acid in the blood.
Evdokimenko shared a story from his practice, when a patient who had been taking medication for 10 years was helped by treatment with leeches.
“In one course of treatment, leeches managed to do what pills might not do for 10 years: following a course of hirudotherapy, both cholesterol and uric acid levels returned to normal. Moreover, this treatment lasted a year and a half for the man,” the doctor reports.
After a year and a half, the levels of cholesterol and uric acid in the patient’s blood once more slightly increased, but this time only 3 sessions of hirudotherapy brought these values back to normal.
“So both leeches and bloodletting are a very effective and efficient method of combating high cholesterol,” sums up the doctor.
