Historic decrease in the homicide rate in El Salvador 2024-02-14 11:34:16

The popular American media Valuetainment highlighted the historic reduction in the homicide rate in El Salvador, in addition to the successful security strategies implemented by the Government of President Nayib Bukele.

«According to statistics published by the government of the Central American nation, the number of homicides in the country fell from 495 murders in 2022, to 154 murders in 2023, a decrease of 70 percent. That leaves El Salvador with a rate of 2.4 homicides per 100,000 people,” highlights the media outlet.

Valuetainment also highlighted the high rates of approval by Salvadorans towards the new security environment, and the percentage of the population that supports President Bukele, who will vote for the president in the next elections on February 4.

“Bukele does not face significant challenges in the upcoming presidential elections in February, as polls currently reflect that he has a 70 percent lead over his rivals, all of them from the country’s political old guard,” the article underlines.
