With the Heat’s victory tonight, Miami and Denver are now one win away from the NBA Finals. And a sweep of their respective opponents, Celtics and Lakers. In the event of a double 4-0, it would be a new page in the history of the Playoffs which would be written, because such a scenario… has never happened before.
A first that engraves the domination of two teams in the history of the Playoffs. This is what could happen, as of Tuesday evening, if the Nuggets and then the Heat offer themselves the sweep against their opponents. In 52 years of the Conference Finals system, that has simply never happened. A scenario all the crazier since one of the two teams finished eighth in the Eastern Conference and is currently on the verge of an NBA Finals when no one predicted such a course.
There’s NEVER been sweeps in both the East and Western Conference Finals since the system was put in place 52 years ago.

Finally… is it still necessary that the two teams win their next match. Pretty unlikely in our opinion, at least for Denver. The Nuggets will certainly want to finish in front of their home crowd, to celebrate their first final in franchise history. On the Heat side, however, it’s a safe bet that Jimmy Butler and his band don’t leave the Celtics a chance. For what ? Because Boston remains a serious team, and giving them a success is potentially relaunching the series, especially with a Game 5 in Massachusetts.

Still, a Nuggets – Heat final… good. We can imagine that Adam Silver secretly lattes his face thinking of the Lakers – Celtics which evaporates and which would have hit audiences and social networks, but still. On one side, Jimmy Butler, on the other Nikola Jokic. Two enormously talented players who deserve their ring. And here, the feeling that if this poster is indeed that of the finals to come, we cannot be disappointed with the result.
