On the Steam page of Hogwarts Legacy, Internet users have allowed themselves some “joyful” bullying. Among other things, they have modified the tags attached to the game in an attempt to affect its reputation.

As the most popular distribution platform on PC, Steam is no exception to this rule, and the future release of the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy is a perfect opportunity to send a message. Scheduled for February 10, 2023 on PC, the game is at the heart of a controversy. Why ? Because the players denounce the controversial remarks that have been made by author JK Rowling for several years. Indeed, the latter has already had words deemed to discriminate against the LGBTIQ + community and more particularly transsexual people, and this on several occasions.
Hogwarts Legacy is adapted from the universe that can be discovered in the series of Harry Potter books, written by the latter. As a result, the image of the author and her words have been added to the game. Thus, players have modified the tags attached to the Harry Potter game page on Steam. In recent days, those wishing to pre-order the game could see the words “Transphobe” and “Transphobia” appear on the dedicated page. To reduce the visibility of the game, users have also reported it as a game not recommended for those under 18. Obviously, these acts do not respect the rules of use of Steam. The attached tags and mentions were quickly moderated by the platform.
JK Rowling involved in Hogwarts Legacy?
Obviously, this is not the first time that the potential proximity between the creator of Harry Potter and the number 1 pre-order title on Steam is questioned. Indeed, the official video game website has already addressed these questions in the FAQ available online. The editor Warner Bros. Games and the developer Avalanche Software, had the opportunity to answer a few questions. They claim that “JK Rowling entrusted the design and creation” from games like Hogwarts Legacy to Warner Bros. No official information has been revealed about the remuneration of the latter thanks to Hogwarts Legacy: the Legacy of Hogwarts.
