Hollywood – Honorary Oscars for Liv Ullmann, Samuel L. Jackson and Elaine May

Only once nominated for an Oscar, now awarded an honorary Oscar: Samuel L. Jackson (Imago / Manfred Segerer)

The gala took place in Hollywood in a ballroom next to the Dolby Theater where the Oscars are presented. Ullmann, best known for her collaboration with director Ingmar Bergman, wore a blue and yellow pin in solidarity with Ukraine. Jackson has appeared in more than 100 films, including Do The Right Thing and Pulp Fiction. Among other things, May wrote the screenplays for hit films such as “Reds” and “Tootsie”. For the honorary Oscars, the academy selects people whose work has “profound importance” for film and society. “Lethal Weapon” star Danny Glover was also honored for his social commitment. He received the Jean Hersholt Prize.
