Holy nostalgia! The Hamburger War gets a sequel after 26 years

In recent years, the TV, film and games industries have been betting heavily on the nostalgia factor, reviving classic franchises through remakes or unexpected sequels.

Among the many classics tirelessly repeated on open TV, the long A Guerra do Hamburger is certainly among the favorites of many people, who have been asking for a sequel for a long time. If you are one of these people, you can celebrate, because the project has been confirmed!

Paramount Pictures announced this week that it is producing Burger War 2, the ’90s classic starring Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson.

Known for the Nickelodeon series Kenan and Kel, the stars will return for the sequel to Burger War in the roles of Ed and Dexter Reed.

The script for the sequel will be signed by Kevin Kopelow, Heath Seifert (who worked on the original feature) and James III (Astronomy Club). Phil Traill (Maluca Paixão) is directing.

Thompson spoke to Variety about the announcement and was very excited:

I can’t believe it’s been over 25 years since great customer service was born with The Burger War. Being part of something that marked several generations has always made me proud and now to be back is surreal! I love acting with my brother Kel and I can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.

Filming for the film begins in May of this year, and is expected to debut in the Paramount Plus catalog later this year.
