Earlier there were allegations that political leaders and policemen were trapped in a honey trap by Aswati Achu. Many people filed complaints but the case did not go anywhere as they did not cooperate with the investigation.

At the first stage of the investigation of this case, Ashwati Achu told the police that she did not extort money from the 68-year-old man but took the money as a loan. The police arrested Aswathi Achu when the time limit that they had promised to return the money had expired during the interrogation.
