The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong held the “Hong Kong Annual Chinese Character Selection 2023” event, inviting citizens to choose a Chinese character from 10 candidate Chinese characters to represent their feelings or social conditions this year. The 10 candidate Chinese characters are “Xing”, “Yun”, “Xuan”, “People”, “Jian”, “Lv”, “Ye”, “Shou”, “Fu” and “Zhi”. Each of the 10 words has a different meaning and is related to the social events that occurred this year.
