Director Christopher Nolan and actress and director Agnès Jaoui will receive an “honorary Cesar” award in recognition of their careers, during the 49th edition of these French cinema awards on February 23 in Paris, the organizers announced yesterday.

The films of British-American Christopher Nolan (53 years old) combine popular success with artistic excellence, from “Dunkirk” to “Interstellar” through “Inception.”

The Cesar Academy, which awards these film awards every year, confirmed in a statement, “His latest masterpiece, Oppenheimer, is a true global phenomenon, acclaimed by critics and audiences for its revolutionary visual aesthetic.”

As for Agnès Jaoui, she is an “integrated artist” with a career spanning 40 years. She has directed five feature films, including “Le Gout des Autres” in 2000, and has also participated in acting in about 50 screen works, in addition to many theatrical experiences.

The Cesar Academy explained in another statement that Agnès Jaoui “truly began her career in 1987 on the stage that marked her forever, when she met Jean-Pierre Bakri.” A real creative fusion occurred between them, which generated many successful plays and films.” They were one of the most famous couples in cinema and remained close until Bakri’s death in 2021.

Agnès Jaoui is “the artist who has won the most César awards, with six awards,” according to what was stated in the statement.
