Hope for Gaza’s Children: Haya’s Journey and the Struggle for Survival

Haya, the baby angel of Gaza, who Osyat wrote to give all her toys and baby clothes to her loved ones, is the darling of the world. There are hundreds of thousands of children in Gaza, where Israel’s genocide continues, who are afraid to go to sleep, not sure if they will ever see another dawn. They watched in dismay as their little rooms, where they had slept until yesterday, turned into nothing but concrete piles shrouded in smoke.

They have forgotten to even cry when their loved ones are disintegrating before their eyes and when they realize that there is no way forward to live. All around are buildings that turn into fireballs and concrete mounds that smell of blood. In Gaza are the unfortunate children who had to sacrifice their lives and lives to keep their feet on the land where they were born.

They have been living in an open prison for as long as they can remember. The plight of having to wait for Israel’s generosity for a pot of water in their own land. All food and medicine are rationed. Those who are destined to burn their childhood, youth, youth and old age in the endless rain of fire.

The war started on October 7. This means that today is the 12th day since the Israeli occupation of Gaza. According to the latest official figures, 3,478 people died in Palestine. 12,065 people were seriously injured. In 1200, many human lives are still trapped among the ruined buildings. More than half of them are children. These are only official figures. There are so many who have been scattered that they cannot even be counted. Israel is killing helpless people in Gaza in violation of all the laws of war. Even the hospitals, the last resort on the battlefield, were set ablaze by Israel’s missiles.

Israel is slaughtering a nation like wolves attacking a fleeing victim, denied food, water, and medicine. International organizations, including the UN, are not ready to lift even a single finger to stop the brutality of Israel, which is not ready to follow even the minimum etiquette that a country should follow on the battlefield.

No human rights organizations have been able to let even the trucks with food and medicine waiting for the lives of Gazans beyond just ten kilometers. There are tens of thousands of uppas in Gaza who were not lucky enough to collect the body parts of the children scattered in front of their eyes. There are women in Gaza who have been denied the chance to even kiss their pet gold. There are many babies in Gaza who can no longer hold their baby sister who slept together until yesterday. Perhaps because they realized long ago that no one is coming to speak for them, they are retaliating against Israel’s bombers with stones and sticks. They are fighting to win knowing they will lose.
