The “Hope Makers” initiative reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which seeks to establish a culture of hope in our Arab world, spread the values ​​of optimism and positivity, and encourage young people and Arab citizens, women and men, to engage in creating hope and positive change, combating despair and negativity, and taking the initiative. To change their reality, achieve their dreams, and build the future they aspire to.
Since its launch, the initiative has succeeded in attracting a large number of participants from young men and women from various parts of the Arab world who have projects and initiatives through which they seek to help people and improve the quality of life or contribute to solving some of the challenges facing their societies. The initiative worked to highlight and promote these efforts and provide all Forms of support to help them continue doing good and develop their projects to achieve their goals.
Today, as preparations are made to honor the winners of the fourth session of “Hope Makers”, during the closing ceremony held at the “Coca-Cola Arena” in City Walk in Dubai on February 25th, a number of the winners of the Hope Makers in previous sessions remember the moments of their honor by His Excellency. The Iraqi Hisham Al-Dhahabi, winner of the “Hope Makers” Award in its first session in 2017, described his honoring by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as a dream come true, and a unique, defining moment in the path of his humanitarian and charitable work, which will remain engraved in his memory forever.
Hisham Al-Dhahabi stressed that winning the “Hope Makers” award contributed to advancing his humanitarian work to new heights. He also recounts with great happiness how the award changed his life and the lives of hundreds of orphans and the elderly and enabled him to fulfill an old promise he made to himself to build a large home to care for orphans after working for years in During a rented house.
Al-Dhahabi explained that the “Hope Makers” award gave him the ability to build “the most beautiful house in Iraq” and house 80 children under the age of fifteen, and 22 young men who are students in the middle school and in colleges and institutes, in addition to providing services to a thousand orphan girls, including educational sponsorships, and all… Their expenses and needs, and it now takes care of the education and needs of 350 children outside the home.
Al-Dhahabi cited a special kind of achievement that he achieved after winning the award, as he was able to open a home for the elderly run by young men who previously lived in “the most beautiful house in Iraq.” Today, they are ensuring the comfort of the elderly through a team they formed under the name “Grandpa at Your Service,” with the aim of searching for… Homeless children or homeless seniors.
Al-Dhahabi pointed to the tremendous momentum created by his winning the “Hope Makers” award, and his transition from one success to another, which was represented by the opening of four branches of the house in the cities of Babylon, Wasit, Basra, and Mosul, caring for about 750 children. In turn, Kuwaiti Maali Al-Asousi, winner of the “Hope Makers” Award in 2017, confirmed that being honored with the award gave her unlimited ability to expand her humanitarian projects, especially in the Republic of Yemen, and to contribute to changing the lives of millions of people.
Regarding her beginning in her humanitarian work, Her Excellency Al-Asousi said: “I traveled to Yemen on a work mission, but I decided to stay there and devote myself to humanitarian work and creating hope. So I founded the (Tamkeen) initiative in order to improve the quality of life and raise the standard of living of the poor and supported the establishment of non-profit development projects, then I decided to join To the Kuwaiti Direct Aid Society to manage the Society’s relief and development operations in Yemen.
His Excellency Al-Asousi implemented 35 water projects, organized 50 relief campaigns, provided 750 building grants and more than 600 scholarships, and contributed to empowering more than 1,000 families economically and performing more than 16,000 surgeries to combat blindness, in addition to rehabilitating 40 health centers.
Her Excellency Al-Asousi stated that the idea of ​​the award itself contributed to changing her life and her outlook on the nature of volunteer and humanitarian work, as she was introduced to many inspiring stories in the Arab world.
She pointed out that winning the “Hope Makers” award contributed to her moving to new heights in ambition and work mechanisms, after winning the award shed light on the nature of her projects and the efforts of her work team.
Her Excellency Al-Asousi expressed her happiness that her story was approved in the curriculum of the Ministry of Education in the State of Kuwait for the fourth grade of primary school in the “Do a Favor” lesson, as she is the first Kuwaiti woman working in the humanitarian field to have her story placed in the official curriculum of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Education.
