A surveillance camera captured a moment, which French media described as “horrific”, of a homeless person assaulting an elderly grandmother and trying to steal her granddaughter in front of their house.
And the French “20minutes” website said that the accident occurred yesterday, Monday, at around five thirty in the afternoon, in the city of Bordeaux.
The source explained that the two victims are a 73-year-old grandmother and her 7-year-old granddaughter, while the attacker is only 29 years old.
The video, which caused an uproar in France, shows the young man waiting for the opportunity to pounce on the grandmother and her granddaughter, who were standing in front of the door of their house on the street.
Sensing danger, the grandmother tried to enter the house and lock the door, before they were attacked by the homeless, who proceeded to brutally assault them and throw them to the ground.
After that, the assailant tried to kidnap the child, but she ran away from him and ran towards her grandmother. When the tramp realized that he was in danger, he disappeared from sight.
Later, the French police stated that a suspect “known to the police” had been arrested.
She said the arrest took place after less than two hours, thanks to videotapes and eyewitness accounts.
The young man faces charges of “breaking into a house”, “attempted kidnapping and forced imprisonment”, and “exerting violence against a weak person and a minor under the age of 15”.
