Hospital cooperation: psychiatric care in Bouaké and patients’ rights

In May 2023, the city of Bouaké in Côte d’Ivoire received a delegation for a specific mission: to assess three treatment sites for psychiatric disorders, to find out if they respect the rights of patients, according to the new standards of the WHO.

Psychiatrists, psychologists, patients in the healing phase, associations of families affected by these disorders, coming from Côte d’Ivoire, France and Burkina Faso visited the Psychiatric Hospital of Bouaké, the Institute Saint-Camille and in a prayer center near Bouaké, meeting patients, nursing staff, and Pastor Jeremy, “soberly” nicknamed “The Prophet”, for an inventory.
