Hospitalized for “rhinopharyngitis”, their daughter dies in 48 hours: two parents from Mouscron plunged into incomprehension

Devastated, two parents from Mouscron have been left in a state of incomprehension since the death of their daughter. The little one was barely 2 years old, and lived happy days… until September 15th. They confided in this atrocious day to our colleagues from Sudinfo.

That day, the child is sick, feverish, and the school calls her parents so that they can pick her up. These are things that happen, but the vomiting of the little one once in her dad’s car immediately worries the family. The little girl is taken to the nearest hospital, where a doctor examines her and concludes that she has nasopharyngitis. The child is therefore authorized to return home with her father. But once the family is home, the little girl’s condition deteriorates. The family goes back to the emergency room in the early evening, where a doctor tells them not to worry. Despite everything, the child will remain in the hospital that night.

A sudden death

The next day, the parents return to see their daughter. The 2-year-old will stay in the hospital for another night. She was treated with antibiotics. On September 17, two days after the onset of symptoms, the parents returned to the hospital. It is at this time that a doctor announces to them the death of their daughter. “I let you imagine our pain at this moment“, explains the mother, interviewed by Nord Eclair.

The explanation for the child’s death remains unclear. According to the doctors, a toxic bacterium attacked the body of the little one, causing a sudden and impossible to prevent death. “They are hiding something from us, it is not possible otherwise”, respect the dad. “Someone didn’t do their job.”

The hospital reacts

The hospital implicated by the parents refuses to comment on the medical details of the case, as it is bound by professional secrecy. However, the hospital considers that no fault was committed, and says it understands the pain of the parents in such circumstances.
