Hostage taking in an Apple Store in Amsterdam

An armed man entered a store on Tuesday evening, an Apple Store according to local media, located in one of the main squares ofAmsterdam which was cordoned off by the police. The man took one or more people hostage, according to the police.

“There is someone with a firearm in/near the store in question, the police are on scene with numerous (specialist) units to bring the situation under control,” police said on Twitter. .

“Due to a report at a store in Leidseplein, the police are now deployed there. More information will follow via this Twitter channel.”
