Hotbed of greats, the Faculty of Medicine of the UG

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Guanajuato has graduated, for entire generations, renowned medical specialists. On Saturday, May 28, several graduates met, where the book ‘White Roses’ was also presented, which tells the story of the prestigious academic institution.

‘Rosas Blancas’, written by doctors Pablo Campos Macías and Luis Humberto López Salazar, is a deep and exhaustive investigation of how the Faculty was born and how it has grown, collecting documents and testimonies.

Campos Macías, organizer of the event, pointed out in his welcome message:
“I see many companions from many generations, very dear teachers (…) Today, we see the bees with joy, we return to our honeycomb. It is our reunion with our alma mater.”

Campos recalled that the important role of the University of Guanajuato in the scientific, cultural and artistic development in the state has been unmatched. A little over 77 years have passed since the founding of the School of Medicine.

The rector of the University of Guanajuato, Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, highlighted in his message to the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine:

“I had never been present at an event like today: a great diversity of generations. Today I have the privilege of attending with honorable representation of the university community, our beloved house of studies. This is a meeting to remember, to commemorate, to bring to mind human beings, symbols that give meaning to the University of Guanajuato.”

Guerrero Agripino pointed out that a large number of people have made the educational project of the Faculty of Medicine their life, giving the university an excellent place as such.

“To talk about the School of Medicine is to talk about a benchmark for bees, which marks a symbol and great relevance. León cannot be understood in his contemporary stage without the presence of this school, and the studies have had a great capacity for transformation to the changing circumstances of reality”, warned the Rector.
