by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Sandnes, Norway – A house fire on Sviland in Sandnes prompted a swift response from emergency services Monday evening, leading to the temporary closure of several roads. Fortunately, all occupants were able to evacuate the residence, and firefighters gained control of the blaze by 11:25 PM local time. Traffic has since resumed on Espelandsveien, Svilandsveien, and Søredalen, according to police reports.

The incident began at approximately 10:11 PM on Monday, February 23, 2026, when police received notification of the fire at the intersection of Søredalen, and Espelandsveien. Initial reports indicated heavy smoke emanating from the property, but all residents were confirmed to be outside the building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

“Two individuals who were inside the house at the time the fire broke out were able to evacuate safely,” stated Operations Leader John Ask of the South-West Police District, according to Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident. Firefighters immediately deployed smoke divers into the building to combat the flames.

The road closures were implemented to allow fire crews access to water sources located in nearby culverts. Fylkesvei 4498 was among the routes affected, causing disruption for local traffic. Rogaland fire and rescue services brought the fire under control at 11:25 PM, and roads were reopened shortly thereafter.

Police have initiated an investigation to determine the origin of the fire. No information regarding potential causes has been released at this time.
