The Houston Dynamo thought they were heading to the quarter-finals of the League Cup, but two goals conceded in less than two minutes deprived them of this privilege. Houston conceded in the 80th and 81st minutes of play in a 2-1 loss to Charlotte FC on Monday night.
The loss will leave an even more bitter taste in Houston since the winning goal was scored by Micael, Dynamo defender who scored against his side due to a lack of communication with his goalkeeper.

It didn’t take long for Houston to come out on top and take the lead. Charlotte was then far from suspecting that the team would not even have to take a shot to take the lead. Seconds later, Houston defender Micael attempted to put the ball behind him for goaltender Clark. The problem was that Clark was in the middle of the penalty area, as Micael’s pass headed towards the corner of the goal. Clark was unable to get the ball back in time and that own goal from Micael put Charlotte in charge.
The Dynamo were then unable to repair this blunder of Micael and the team admitted defeat.
In the other match, Queretaro defeated the New England Revolution 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation.
The game between the New York Red Bulls and the Union was postponed to Tuesday due to bad weather in the Philadelphia area.
