Texans Receiver Serves Meals to Students, Partners with Fogo de Chão for No Kid Hungry Initiative
houston Texans wide receiver Braxton Berrios recently surprised students at Eisenhower High School with a heartwarming act of service.Along with chefs from Fogo de chão, Berrios helped distribute over 1,300 meals to students and their families, as part of the restaurant chain’s collaboration with No Kid Hungry.
The event, held on September 16th, was particularly meaningful as Eisenhower High school is a dedicated partner of the No Kid Hungry institution. berrios, new to Houston’s NFL team, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he’s received from the city and emphasized his commitment to giving back to the community.
“It’s been awesome so far getting to meet and know some of the kids here at Eisenhower,” Berrios said. “It’s really cool to be in a position of influence, and I really try to do as much as I can to give back. Houston has been amazing and welcomed me with open arms since I’ve been here, so this is more about giving back to the community that has given so much to me.”
Students and members of the school’s football team enjoyed the chance to connect with Berrios during the meal. Fogo de Chão’s involvement extends beyond the immediate event, with a current campaign running through September 30th. For every $5 donated to No Kid Hungry, patrons receive a $25 dining card, helping to provide 50 meals to children in need.
Principal James Metcalf praised the initiative, noting the excitement and joy brought by the Fogo de Chão team and the special appearance of superintendent Dr. LaTonya Goffney and board members. “It was such a pleasure having Fogo De chão and the Houston Texans host the No Kid Hungry event at Eisenhower High School,” Metcalf said. “The Fogo De Chão team brought so much excitement and joy, engaging with everyone who attended…The event was a complete success, and we’re so grateful to Fogo De Chão for making it all happen!”
