Valentin Gaft passed away in the winter of 2020. The cause of the artist’s death was a stroke, which he suffered in 2019, and then was unable to recover from the illness. The death of the legend of the Soviet screen came as a shock to his loved ones and numerous fans, and not so long ago it became known how Gaft himself reacted to the deterioration of his condition.
As it turned out, the famous artist suffered from health problems in the last months of his life. According to his wife Olga Ostroumova, all his life he was accustomed to being a leader, but his deteriorating condition forced him to sit at home and devote all his time to treatment.
“I’m used to being the first in everything. And suddenly it was one thing, then another: I couldn’t walk, my hands were shaking,” – Ostroumova said in a conversation with “Arguments and facts”.
She always supported her husband. The actress tried to look as cheerful as possible to make Gaft feel more confident. And she never showed how hard it was for her.
