“How much fine did the Reuzegommers receive?” Influencer Acid reacts angrily to punishment

What is the case regarding?

At the end of May, Nathan Vandergunst – better known as Acid – shared a video on YouTube. In the 11-minute video he mentioned 4 Reuzegommers by name. He showed photos and shared their profession.

Reuzegommers are members of the Reuzegom student club. During a baptism ritual in the club’s inhumane circumstances in 2018, 20-year-old student Sanda Dia died. In 2023, 18 club members were convicted of, among other things, accidental killing and inhumane treatment. They were each given community service and a fine.

The names Acid mentioned in his video included several former members of the student club who were not charged at that trial. The video was viewed hundreds of thousands of times – before YouTube removed it and Vandergunst (temporarily) suspended it.

The public prosecutor’s office decided not to open an investigation, but the lawyer of one of the Reuzegommers did summon Acid directly for electronic harassment, slander and defamation and violations of the law surrounding the online sharing of personal data.
