Being bothered by the same people can quickly become overwhelming. Here are some tips for blocking one or more contacts.
The iPhone has a call blocking feature that allows you to block incoming calls from certain numbers. This can be useful if you receive unwanted calls or want to block someone from contacting you.
There are several ways to block calls on iPhone. You can block a number from your contact list, a recent call, or a contact group.
To block a number from your contact list:
Open iPhone Settings. Select the Phone menu. Select Blocked Contacts. Tap “Add…”. Select the Contact you want to block from your contact list.
To block a number from a recent call:
Open the Phone app. Tap the “Recents” tab. Press the small “i” of the number you want to block. Scroll down. Tap on “Block this correspondent”.
To block a contact group:
Open the Contacts app. Tap the “Plus” (+) button in the upper right corner. Tap “New Contact”. Name your group (eg: Blocked Numbers) and add the numbers you want to block. Once the group has been created, repeat the “Block from your contact list” operation.
Once a number is blocked, it will no longer be able to call you. Incoming calls from this number will be sent directly to your voicemail. You will not receive notifications for these calls.
You can unblock a number at any time by removing it from the blocked contacts list. To do this, open the Settings app, tap on “Phone”, then tap on “Blocked Contacts”. Tap the “Unblock” button next to the number you want to unblock.
In Belgium, you can also register on the “Do Not Call Me” list
The “Do Not Call Me” list is a national list of telephone numbers that should not be called for sales prospecting purposes. If you join this list, telemarketing companies are not allowed to call you.
To join the “Do Not Call Me” list, you can go to this website. This is an effective way to protect yourself from commercial prospecting calls in addition to having certain undesirable numbers blocked.
