Available on any self-respecting smartphone, the frontal camera it is mainly used for video calls and selfies. In the case of iPhones, Apple has been working year after year to make it even better. In line with the iPhone 14, for example, it finally gained autofocus.
A curious fact is that you can switch between two different resolutions on the front cameras of the iPhone 11 or later — which have a sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels.

Open the Camera app on your iPhone and switch to the front camera by tapping the little circle-shaped arrows (loop) located in the lower left corner. You’ll notice little arrows appear right above the camera modes, right in the middle.
Tap them to toggle to capture more detail in the photo (or simply flip your phone vertically to have it done automatically). In this way, the images will be captured in 12 megapixels.
If you touch the little arrows again and have a more “forward” image again, without capturing so much the details around it, it will be 7 megapixels.
To take the “proof of the nine” later, open the Photos app, select the image and tap the “i”. The camera’s details are shown along with its other metadata:
