How to configure WhatsApp to prevent your location from being deduced in video calls

The instant messaging social network WhatsApp is improving the privacy of its users, something that many have been concerned regarding in recent years. One of its latest updates has focused on the location from which a call is being made.

This location might be obtained by tracking the phone’s IP, something that many people neither know nor were interested in doing, but those people who did want to track the locations of the calls were able to do so.

For this reason WhatsApp is testing a new function Protect the IP address in calls and which can be found in the Beta version by going to “settings”, then “privacy” and then clicking on the “advanced” option.

This function allows users to protect themselves once morest malicious attacks and possible hacks by people who interfere with calls. Currently Beta versions of the app are being tested, for Android and IOS devices, and since it is in a testing phase, it may take a long time before it is available to all users.
