Step 1. Create virtual drive

  1. Right-click on the Start menu and choose Disk Management.
  2. Go to the action menu and choose to create a VHD
  3. click on browse and save it somewhere you can access it
  4. Then enter the amount of storage for the virtual drive and also configure the virtual drive size.
  5. Under virtual hard disk, disk format choose VHDX and click OK.
  6. Right-click on the disk and choose Initialize Disk.
  7. Then choose a partition style (GPT or MBR) and click OK.
  8. Right-click on Unallocated and choose New Simple Volume.
  9. Click Next > click next again.
  10. Assign a drive letter and click Next.
  11. Format the partition with default settings and click Next.
  12. Click Finish to create a new volume.

Step 2. Enable BitLocker and protect your files

  1. Open Windows System > Settings and click on Storage.
  2. Click Advanced Storage Settings
  3. Click Disks and Volumes.
  4. Find the virtual drive and click Properties.
  5. Scroll to the end and choose Enable BitLocker.
  6. Expand Fixed data drives, find the virtual drive and choose Enable BitLocker.
  7. Choose to use a password to unlock the drive.
