German Caricature Prize Exhibition Now Open in Hoyerswerda

Hoyerswerda, Germany – The annual German Caricature Prize exhibition has opened its doors in Hoyerswerda, showcasing a collection of thought-provoking and humorous works.For nearly two decades, the Lausitz Center has hosted this popular event, but this year marks a change of venue.

This year’s exhibition is being held in the foyer and staircase of the Citizens’ Center, utilizing space typically reserved for the Kunstraum-Braugasse series. The exhibition opened on Wednesday, offering a new location for art enthusiasts to enjoy.

The 25th German Caricature Prize received an remarkable 1,200 submissions from 265 cartoonists. The awards were presented in November of the previous year, and now the public has the possibility to view the winning and selected entries.

The theme of this year’s competition, “Is the old world just before the end of the day? And if so, woudl that be so bad? Are we opting for catastrophe or party?” prompted artists to explore complex and timely questions about the state of the world. The exhibition offers a diverse range of perspectives on these issues.

Visitors can view the exhibition during the Citizens’ Center’s opening hours until August 15th. This provides ample opportunity to experience the creativity and social commentary presented through the art of caricature.
