HP Envy x360 15 laptop review: a convertible built for multimedia

The Envy x360 15-eu0009nf supplied by HP features an Intel Core i7-1255U processor, a low-power processor with hybrid architecture (2 P-cores + 8 E-cores). It is coupled with 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 2050 of only 35 W.

Thus equipped, the Envy x360 15 obtains a performance index of 95. It is placed between the Ryzen 5 5500U (88) of the previous version of the Envy x360 15 and the Ryzen 7 6800U (117) of the Acer Swift Edge.

In practice, the Core i7-1255U maintains its frequency at 2.67 GHz for the P Cores and 2.05 GHz for the E-cores, with an average TDP of 26 W during our encoding. We did not notice a decrease in frequency (throttling) in these conditions.

As for the gaming performance of the onboard 35W GeForce RTX 2050, it is almost halved compared to that of the 60W model of the Honor MagicBook 14. Thus, if it is possible to play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla at 36 fps on the Honor with details set to maximum and FSR on, the Envy x360 15 asks to set details to “medium” with FSR on to get 44 fps.
Even application performance that takes advantage of the RTX 2050’s Ampere architecture is degraded. Thus, the rendering time of our test video under Premiere increases by 17%, the rendering time of our scene under Blender by 63% and the filter application under Photoshop by 31%.

The 1024 GB Samsung SSD offers speeds that are more than sufficient for the use for which the Envy x360 15 is intended (3180 MB/s in reading and 1740 MB/s in writing).
