VIENNA – The number of HPV vaccinations effective against many types of cancer tripled in July compared to the same month last year. Thereafter, the age period for free management is extended to the 30th birthday. About 22,500 people were vaccinated against the human papilloma virus in July this year, compared with 7,500 a year ago. Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Green Party) stressed in a broadcast on Sunday that this was “the only vaccine that can prevent cancer”.
