Huawei E-Ink Tablet Challenges Kindle, New MatePad Paper Releases Pricing

When it comes to digital products that use E-Ink, I believe many people will think of Kindle e-readers. Huawei’s just released MatePad Paper tries to combine Kindle e-reading with other practical functions. The Huawei MatePad Paper is equipped with a 10.3-inch 256-level grayscale E-Ink screen with anti-reflection, and can be used in bright or dim environments. Officials claim that it can display text, images, and even videos. The screen ratio is 86.3%. Huawei said that the edge of the screen is designed to be wider, so that users can hold the tablet when using it. In addition to providing 32-level backlight options, the screen also supports the M Pencil stylus, which is convenient for users to handwrite notes or add notes to documents and books. According to Huawei, the response speed of the corresponding stylus is 26ms, which is not bad for a matte screen with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

Since MatePad Paper uses Huawei’s own HarmonyOS, it can be connected to Huawei’s computer, tablet and mobile phone products, and become a USB memory stick that allows users to drag and drop files to exchange on both sides. Huawei hasn’t disclosed what processor the MatePad Paper uses, but the tablet comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and the built-in battery can last for 6 days or 4 weeks when fully charged. The MatePad Paper does not support 4G or 5G, but has a WiFi 6+ connection, and the power button also has built-in fingerprint recognition. The body weight is about 363g. In terms of price, the MatePad Paper with M Pencil and Folio case is priced at 499 euros (equivalent to HK$4,343).
