Huawei HarmonyOS Next: stable version without Android apps may be released soon

2024-02-29 05:08:00

HarmonyOS Next can be officially presented in the second half of this year. The information was confirmed by more than one source to the well-known leaker FixedFocus.

According to these people, the software is already in the final stage of development in its version for smartphones and PCs. Therefore, Huawei may end up holding a major event to make HarmonyOS official as a “definitive and complete” operating system.

The company will also use this conference to announce new smartphones, tablets and other devices that already run the system natively.

Previous rumors already indicated that the Huawei Mate 70 line could be responsible for the debut of HarmonyOS Next.

Even though the sources have not provided a specific date for the presentation of the software, Huawei is in a certain “rush” to launch this.

This is because it should mark the company’s definitive “divorce” with Android, since HarmonyOS Next will not be compatible with applications from the ecosystem created by Google.

Furthermore, in the PC market, Huawei promises performance 3 times higher than that of traditional Linux. Therefore, the expectations of the Chinese public, as well as the Western public, are somewhat high for the presentation of the system.

For now, the Chinese company has not confirmed the veracity of the rumor.
