Huawei Pura X View Launched: World’s First Wide-Screen Candybar Phone

Huawei has officially unveiled the Huawei Pura X View, a wide-format flat smartphone featuring a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 16:9.5 aspect ratio, a 7.000 mAh battery, and HarmonyOS 7, launching in China with pre-orders beginning August 28, according to official release details.

Engineering a Non-Traditional Form Factor

Traditional smartphone designs have long relied on narrow, vertical rectangles. Huawei is directly challenging that standard. According to reports from DonanımHaber, the company positions the Huawei Pura X View as the world’s first wide-screen, capless flat smartphone. Instead of adopting a complex hinge mechanism like standard foldable phones, the device delivers a wide horizontal screen space natively.

The core of this hardware approach lies in its distinct single-piece structure. The display measures 6.39 inches diagonally, utilizing an unconventional 16:9.5 aspect ratio paired with a resolution of 2232 x 1320 pixels. Engineering constraints are pushed to the edge with uniform 1.05 mm bezels across all four sides. This allows the device to achieve a 96.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. Furthermore, the panel delivers a peak brightness of 6.500 nits and incorporates high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce eye strain during extended media consumption.

Hardware Profile and Battery Architecture

Packing massive power into a slim chassis often creates severe thermal and spatial trade-offs. Yet, the Pura X View manages a 7.000 mAh battery capacity while maintaining a thickness of just 6.68 mm and a total weight of 201 grams. On the back, a horizontal camera module houses a 50-megapixel primary sensor.

While Huawei has not yet disclosed the exact system-on-chip powering the device, storage and memory configurations are confirmed. The phone will ship with 12GB of RAM, alongside three storage tiers: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Buyers can choose from four distinct color options: red, gray, white, and black.

Software Integration via HarmonyOS 7

Hardware dimensions dictate usability, but software optimization determines actual daily performance. The Pura X View arrives running Huawei’s HarmonyOS 7 operating system. According to DonanımHaber, this marks the first time a smartphone has launched natively with version 7.0 of the software. While other ecosystem devices await the general beta rollout, this wide-format hardware takes immediate advantage of the platform.
