Huawei’s new XXL laptops are cut out for the start of the school year

Two weeks after pre-orders opened, the Huawei MateBook 16s and D16 are finally hitting the market. Laptops that are not lacking in assets and that even benefit from an introductory offer.

Large screens (touch for one of the two), 12th gen Intel Core processors, Intel Evo certification, smart camera: no doubt, Huawei has not skimped for its new generation of MateBook. Especially since the manufacturer has even put in place many bonuses for the launch of its computers.

From July 13 to August 15, it is possible to save 100 euros on the bill of the Huawei MateBook 16s and the Huawei MateBook D16. The first therefore displays a final price of 1,599 euros, while the second is sold for 899 euros. That’s not all, since Huawei is also offering a one-year Huawei Care warranty extension for its two laptops, as well as a Huawei BT Mouse 2 wireless mouse for the Huawei MateBook D16.

The Huawei MateBook 16s: beautiful and powerful

At the center of any good computer is the screen. That of the Huawei MateBook 16s is simply excellent. The IPS panel measures 16 inches diagonally, which ensures a large display area, so that you don’t miss any detail of the image. It also has the advantage of occupying 90% of the front facade, which reduces clutter and makes it easier to move around. Add to that a thinness of 17.8 mm and a weight of less than 2 kg and you get a computer that slips easily into a backpack.

Above all, the screen of the Huawei MateBook 16s covers 100% of the sRGB color space, which allows it to draw a palette of 1.07 billion colors. A rich color chart that will appeal to video editors, designers and photographers in search of precision. Finally, to improve its ergonomics, the Huawei MateBook 16s benefits from a touch screen. Navigation in the menus can therefore be done at your fingertips without having to bother with a mouse.

The other strength of the Huawei MateBook 16s lies in its technical sheet. This allows him not only to collect greedy tasks, such as image processing, but also to take advantage of the Intel Evo certification. This standard emphasizes performance and responsiveness by imposing specifications on computers. The Huawei MateBook 16s therefore starts in a few seconds and benefits from a Thunderbolt 4 port, a minimum autonomy of 9 hours, Windows 11 out of the box and a 12th generation Intel processor.

Intel Core

Suffice to say that the Huawei MateBook 16s will not be obsolete after one or two years. Its 1 TB SSD drive, 16 GB RAM, Intel Iris Xe chip and Intel Core i5-12500H processor (which can become an i7 or even an i9 depending on the version) promise a good lifespan. In terms of connectivity, in addition to the Thunderbolt 4 port, there is a USB Type-C port, two USB-A sockets, an HDMI port and a jack socket.

Finally, the Huawei MateBook 16s, like the Huawei MateBook D16, is a real ally for videoconferencing. Its camera can follow you as you move to keep you in the frame at all times. It is also possible to apply a background around you to hide the background and thus preserve your privacy when teleworking. Finally, the microphone also relies on artificial intelligence for active noise reduction, to avoid extraneous noise while you speak.

Until August 15, the Huawei MateBook 16s is offered at 1 599 euros on the official store of the manufacturer thanks to a discount of 100 euros.

The Huawei MateBook D16: value for money above all else

Less expensive than the Huawei MateBook 16s, the Huawei MateBook D16 can boast of being more suitable for mobile users thanks to its weight of 1.7 kg. However, there is a screen diagonal of 16.1 inches, for an equivalent occupation ratio and color management similar to the MateBook 16s. This screen also offers very good management of blue light by being TÜV Rheinland certified. It is therefore possible to chain the hours of work without tiring the eyes.

The Huawei MateBook D16 is one of the few laptops on the market to integrate a numeric keypad. The manufacturer has also made typing pleasant thanks to 1.5 mm thick keys, with a finish soft landing which provides a softer rebound.

As for the technical sheet, the manufacturer does not make any concessions since we find a 12th gen Intel Core i5, a 512 GB SSD, an Intel Iris Xe graphics chip and 8 GB of RAM. A configuration which, as with the Huawei MateBook 16s, is capable of running demanding office software such as Adobe Photoshop. The connection is not left out. The Huawei MateBook D16 incorporates two USB Type-C ports, two USB-A sockets, an HDMI socket and a jack socket. Huawei’s laptop also includes the Huawei Metaline Antenna system.

This ensures better capture of the Wi-Fi signal. Up to 56% improvement compared to a conventional computer according to the manufacturer. For its launch, the Huawei MateBook D16 also benefits from a reduced price by being sold 899 euros via the immediate discount of 100 euros. The Intel Core i7 version and 16 GB of RAM falls to 1 199 euros. It benefits from the same gift as the Huawei MateBook 16s, namely 12 months of free Huawei Care, with a bonus however since a Bluetooth mouse BT Mouse 2 offered.
