LINKS calls for self-ID in Austria with a spectacular campaign

Vienna (OTS) A spectacular banner of the Vienna party LINKS was unveiled during the Pride parade on Vienna’s Ringstrasse. With the slogan “Trans Liberation – Self ID now!”, the activists are demanding more self-determination rights when entering gender.

Every person has the right to the gender registration they want – or none. The State Administrative Court in Vienna has already ruled correctly in several cases. The Ministry of the Interior must now finally adapt its restrictive practice.“, says LINKS spokeswoman and lawyer Angelika Adensamer. “It’s very simple: the person must have the final say on their official gender. Not doctors. Not the state. Not the court. The Self-ID would make it possible for the gender entry to be corrected directly at the office. This is exactly what we demand, so that traumatizing examinations and reports will soon be a thing of the past.

LINKS activist and member of Venib (non-binary association) Diana Leah Mosser adds: “We ourselves grow up in a cis-normative society and develop non-binary and binary trans genders. We face exclusion and the problems that come with it. We don’t need reports to back up our story. We need a public that respects our integrity. Recognize our gender!
