More than 62,000 Quebec homes were plunged into darkness Monday morning, due to electrical outages on the Hydro-Québec network caused by strong winds and snowfall.

Shortly following 6 a.m., some 62,607 households were still without electricity, the majority of which in the Estrie and Chaudière-Appalaches regions, according to a report from the state company.

Thus, approximately 39,000 Hydro-Québec customers were waiting to be reconnected in Estrie, while the outages recorded in Montreal and Outaouais were resolved.

6,645 customers are still without electricity in Chaudière-Appalaches, and there are 4,481 in the Capitale-Nationale.

In addition to the 180 customers without electricity in Montérégie, more than 1,107 households still continued to suffer in the dark in the Laurentians.

Furthermore, Hydro-Québec agents were still working Monday morning to resolve the problems inherent to the interruptions which have still not been restored in the province.
