Former Hydro-Quebec employee accused of spying for China will try to get out of prison while awaiting trial.

Yuesheng Wang, 35, will appear Wednesday and Thursday at the Longueuil courthouse for his release investigation.
The accused has been detained since last Monday, when he was arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at his home in Candiac.
Last week, the Crown objected to his release because of his risk of leaving the country.
Wang is charged with espionage for obtaining trade secrets while performing his duties at Hydro-Quebec, fraud for obtaining trade secrets, unauthorized computer use and breach of trust by a public official. .
Wang was, until very recently, a researcher at the Center of Excellence in Transportation Electrification and Energy Storage at Hydro-Québec.
According to our Bureau of Investigation, the accused was teleworking and had not been the subject of a security clearance, despite the strategic information to which he had access.
