“I am looking forward to it.” The Swedish Defense Minister announces an upcoming visit to Turkey

Swedish Defense Minister Pal Johnson announced Thursday his intention to visit Turkey at the end of next week.

This came in a press conference with Prime Minister Ulf Christerson in the capital, Stockholm, in which he made it clear that he had received an invitation from his Turkish counterpart, Hulusi Akar, to visit Ankara.

The minister said, “I hope to conduct this tour at the end of next week, as I am looking forward to that.”

On Wednesday, Akar said in press statements following the meeting of the parliamentary bloc of the Justice and Development Party, that there is a plan for Johnson’s visit to Turkey.

The visit is the first of its kind by a Swedish official, following the provocations committed by supporters of the PKK terrorist organization in Stockholm last week.

On Thursday, a number of supporters of the terrorist organization gathered in front of the historic municipal building in Stockholm, and hung a doll depicting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on a pole near the building.

Accounts linked to the organization published a video clip on social media showing the moments when the doll was suspended from its feet, and the video clip was appended with threatening phrases in the Turkish language targeting Turkey and President Erdogan.
