‘I found him lying there, it was the scare of my life’

Juarez City- Knowing that his community is in mourning and that the economic activity on which more than fifty percent of the almost 15,000 residents of Ahumada depend has been severely affected, the merchant Manuel Galindo demands that Road Safety assume greater responsibility in the traffic control on the main avenue of Ahumada.

“There are no controls for the speed limits on the main street, that is what always puts us at risk and not only us as merchants, but our visitors, we can no longer continue working like this”, he declares still with the indignation at the memory of one of the saddest days in Villa Ahumada, head of the municipality of Ahumada

His son Adrián Galindo Niño, 40, underwent surgery while the interview was taking place inside the Regional Hospital number 66 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

“I found him lying there, it was the scare of my life, he was terrifying there and seeing my son lying there was a very strong impression,” he recalls.

The older adult moved to Juárez as an emergency since yesterday, since Adrián was one of the 16 injured in the accident that occurred in the municipality with the largest territorial extension in the state and an estimated distance of about 120 kilometers between Juárez and Ahumada.

Three of the injured were admitted to this hospital: a woman who died on Wednesday at 9 p.m., another man who was discharged yesterday and his 40-year-old son, who presented severe injuries to his face, according to personal information. Hospital doctor.

Father and son work in the “Tejabán Benito Juárez” wall, but yesterday Manuel had pending issues to fix and a worker went to replace him.

That saved his life, he says.

“If he had gone, he would surely be among the dead,” he says, as he mourns the death of his colleagues, whom he considers his family, since they have known each other for years.

While answering the questions, the father of the family answers calls from his loved ones, his friends and work colleagues, all asking about the health of Adrián, who suffered a fracture in the lower jaw region.

“One of his three sons works and he is the one who registered him with Social Security, that is why he has a medical service,” explains Manuel, who is accompanied by one of his grandchildren.

The older adult says that when he learned of the accident he “flew” to the bus stop where he found his son lying on the floor and dozens of scattered burritos beside him.

“At six in the morning we say goodbye, we ask God for a good day of sale…”, he says as he takes a breath to control his voice and rubs his hands in an attempt to calm his emotions, because he was afraid of losing his son in that fatal accident.
