“I have never been reproached for doing information”

If she has long been a presenter of the television news of France 2, Marie Drucker has been away from the information for six years. From now on, in addition to producing documentaries and working for charities, it is in the cinema that she continues her path, in the latest film by Stéphane Bizé, “Another world” in theaters on February 16. The opportunity for Marie Drucker to confide in Yahoo on her life choices, but also her many projects.

He is undoubtedly one of the emblematic figures of France Télévisions. From 2005, and for many years, Marie Drucker presented television news, first on France 3, before settling on France 2. She has also hosted other programs more than once, such as the Victoires de la Musique, but also event bonuses. Furthermore, Marie Drucker officiated on radio waves like Europe 1 and RTL. A fine career as a journalist that she has nevertheless decided to put aside for a while. This time, Marie Drucker left the small screen, for the big one.

From small to big screen

“Another world” is the name of the latest film by Stéphane Brizé. A new immersion in the ruthless world of work, where juggling between human relations and restrictions is no small matter. This time again, the director counted on the talent of Vincent Lindon, but also Sandrine Kiberlain… and Marie Drucker! For her first role in the cinema, the former presenter of the JT of France 2 embodies Claire Bonnet-Guérin, the boss of Philippe Lemesle played by Vincent Lindon. “I stopped working as a journalist six years ago for a desirea desire and a risk of cinema” confides Marie Drucker. And it is clear that her interest in the seventh art arouses that of others: “Since I played in this film, there is a little curiosity, there has people who call me, directors or producers, to find out if I want to play again.” If Marie Drucker does not “forbid herself” from playing in other films, she is rather cautious : “I’m not taking myself for an actress, which is a very difficult job.”

Indeed, it is not entirely easy to go from journalist to actress. The codes are obviously different: “There is something dizzying when you come from television for many years, in its relationship to the image. I have known for 25 years how I am lit, filmed, made up with my hair. There it’s the opposite: no make-up, no hairstyle, no additional light (…) You have to agree to let yourself go completely, and to give up control of the image. I think that’s what which was the most difficult for me.” Difficult, but above all rewarding. So much so that Marie Drucker is already teeming with other projects. At the moment, she is co-writing Stéphane Brizé’s next film and dreams of “devoting herself to writing a film” that she would direct herself!

A whole “other world” without regrets

As for her job as a journalist, Marie Drucker does not regret leaving it. In any case, on the public scene. Behind the scenes, she continued to officiate. In particular by producing numerous documentaries. “I knew very well where I was going when I made the decision to change my professional life,” she says. After leaving the presentation of the JT de France 2, Marie Drucker hosted the documentary program “Infrared” on the chain. A choice that she considers today “very coherent”. However, with hindsight, there is a “but”: “In 6 years, that’s when I realized that I had done things at the right time, I was never reproached for doing information. I was offered other things which I refused. More exposure again, I refused. So information, no, but it feels like ‘another world.'”

If she bears a particularly famous name, and married like his uncle Michel Drucker a career on the small screen, Marie Drucker is not looking for the light. “I’ve always seen fame as a means, and never as an end in itself,” she told Yahoo. Out of the question for her to suffer from any “label”. On the contrary, Marie Drucker is “always free”. And it is this message that she transmits to the young people she meets as part of her charitable commitments.

Marie Drucker, committed feminist

I have always been a feminist by nature, culture, education” Loose Marie Drucker bluntly. However, the 47-year-old producer is “not at all comfortable” in certain situations. As when she is contacted, each March 8, “to talk about the place of women in the media”. If she knows this universe well, Marie Drucker believes that things have already progressed well: “I live in a world (…) where women have long had either positions of responsibility or in front of the camera.

Journalist, actress, Marie Drucker is also a producer. And this is how she very often collaborates with female directors. “I have the impression that everything I do is a matter of commitment. Making documentary films, producing, is also a way of being a feminist and of defending the cause of women. That’s how I intend to take my part, she assures me. I am very wary of outrageous, abusive, violent feminism, which very often harms the cause it intends to defend. I think that opposing one sex to another , pitting men against women (…) is dangerous.” Marie Drucker has chosen to commit to women behind the scenes.
